1982 Peugeot MIRAGE
Image
Sport Cruiser configuration

Starting in very run-down condition, this 56cm Steel Frame was re-built and upgraded from the ground up.
The bike comes from an interesting era in Peugeot’s history. Some see the times around 1982 as marking the beginning of the end of the hugely successful French industry, where declining sales meant that these Carbon Steel frames were offered to save costs.
The advent of better-quality Japanese components meant that the Simplex-equipped units fell even further behind – on the Tour, the road and the showroom floor.
For its vintage, the bike is enjoyable to ride. It is different to modern machines. The half-toe clips and friction shifters mean that you must plan further ahead – but the steel frame is comfortable, forgiving and the geometry is tight, with quick steering and solid cruising.
The Simplex drive train components were all replaced with NOS Sunrace parts.
